To access your data, you need to be an ‘eligible customer’. This means you must:
- Be a current customer with an energy retailer
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have your own email address registered and authenticated by your energy retailer
- Have your own mobile phone number registered and authenticated by your energy retailer
- Have your consumption under an electricity contract be less than 5GWh in the previous 12 months (or if the contract has existed for less than 12 months, the estimated annual consumption is less than 5GWh). A contract might include more than one connection point/supply address.
When you sign up to use EnergyFlex, you automatically consent to our Privacy Policy.
However, you will need to give us explicit consent to access your Consumer Data Right (CDR) data.
How to access your Consumer Data Right data:
- Click on the ‘Settings’ icon on your EnergyFlex Dashboard.
- Select the ‘Consumer Data Right’ tab.
- Click ‘Add consent’.
- Choose your energy provider from the list.
- Toggle the switch asking for consent to combine your anonymised data with others in your area to ‘on’.
- Click ‘Consent’.
- When redirected, log into your energy retailer’s site with your registered account details.
- Enter the one-time password that will be emailed to you.
- Give one last consent to share your data.
Once you have successfully shared your CDR data with us, you will be directed to a confirmation page and will also receive an email to verify that you have completed the data-sharing process.
Things get a bit tricky if you’re on a joint or business account.
Joint accounts
An account with multiple account holders is called a joint account. If you’re having trouble accessing data on your joint account, please verify that the following information is accurate and up-to-date with your service provider:
- Date of Birth (DOB) of each account holder
- Contact number for each account holder
- Email address for each account holder
Please ensure that the mobile numbers or email addresses associated with joint account holders are unique and not identical.
Business accounts
Businesses must designate at least one individual as a Nominated Representative to enable data sharing under the Consumer Data Right (CDR), even if the business already has authorised contacts on its retail account. Nominated Representative do not need to be authorised contacts.
To register a Nominated Representative, please contact your retailer.
If you’re emailing your retailer, you can speed up the process by including the following information:
Subject line: [Your account number] – Add CDR Representative
In the email body, include the following information:
- Representative’s name
- Representative’s email address
- Representative’s contact number
- Business name
- Business’s full service address
- ABN/ACN
- Your full name and position at the company
