BRISBANE, QLD – 2024EnergyFlex, an energy analytics, education, and rewards company, has announced a partnership with hipages, Australia’s largest online tradie marketplace connecting homeowners and businesses with trusted tradies.

A first-of-its-kind solution in Australia, EnergyFlex is a free energy-based insights platform that empowers Australians to reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions through small, practical shifts in how and when they use energy.

Powered by Consumer Data Right-protected smart meter data and a patent-pending algorithm, it calculates a unique EnergyFlex Rating out of 5, providing a clear measure of how well a household or business uses renewable energy, even if they don’t have rooftop solar. A low rating indicates higher fossil fuel reliance, while a higher rating reflects greater use of renewables from the grid or on-site electricity generation assets.

The EnergyFlex Rating gives householders and businesses a benchmark from which to improve their cost and carbon outcomes by changing the timing of their energy use, starting with simple, no-cost actions and building up towards low-cost energy upgrades and long-term strategic investments.

This rating system provides an environmental rewards framework that governments, employers, communities, and families can use to incentivise participation and improve renewable energy consumption patterns.

This is where tradies on the hipages platform come in.

Through this partnership, EnergyFlex will connect hipages’ extensive network of over 32,000 skilled tradies with Aussie households and businesses eager to become “Renewables Ready” and empower them to embrace the benefits of the energy transition.

Tradies will offer a wide range of services, including solar panel installation, building insulation, electrical upgrades, gas appliance removal, refrigeration and air conditioning upgrades, and more.

The energy transition provides opportunities for all trades, not just electricians. For the first time, people will need services from plumbers, roofers, and painters to meet their energy goals. EnergyFlex facilitates these connections through hipages.

Customers will continue to enjoy the familiar and seamless hipages job flow, including posting tasks without fees or limits, and getting quotes from at least three tradespeople.

“Tradies play an important role in Australia’s shift to renewable energy,” says hipages CEO, Roby Sharon-Zipser. “By leveraging hipages’ vast network of skilled tradies, EnergyFlex customers can access the products and services needed to make this transition seamless.”

“At EnergyFlex, we believe that if we don’t change our energy habits, electricity prices will keep increasing, meeting net-zero emissions targets will become more challenging, and we’ll delay progress towards a sustainable and low-carbon future,” says Garry Harding, CEO and Co-Founder of EnergyFlex. “Tradies that understand the evolving energy landscape – and why we need to change how we use and think about energy – can give the best advice to their clients. They can help Aussies reduce their bills and carbon emissions and improve their EnergyFlex Rating to unlock countless benefits from the energy transition.”

Expert guidance for a smooth energy shift

“The energy landscape can be overwhelming. This partnership aims to simplify the process for homeowners and businesses, allowing them to benefit from the energy transition without additional costs or complexity,” notes Garry. “Our customers rely on us for independent advice and solutions that guide them through the complexities of the energy transition. Now, tradies on the hipages platform can help us accelerate progress toward a decarbonised economy by enabling their customers to play a crucial role in Australia’s energy transition.”

Benefits for tradies:

  • Enhanced reputation as sustainability advocates
